2020 Year in Review

2020 was certainly not the big anniversary trip that many of us had imagined. The Coronavirus pandemic put a major hit on the 20th trip for the Kauflin Invitational. We ended up with 10 participants from an original group of over 20. The 10 golfers who made the trip certainly made the best of an unusual situation and ended up having a very enjoyable trip.

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Kauflin Invitational we decided to head out a day early and get a 4th round of golf in. We started at Coyote Moon in Truckee, CA which proved to be everything it was advertised to be, one of the best mountain courses around. We revisited Somersett Country Club for our second round of golf. That course continues to impress and is becoming one of my favorite places to play anywhere.

We tried two new courses to finish off our itinerary. Wolf Run was an average track but very close to the hotel. On our last day we got to enjoy Toiyabe Golf Club. The staff was great and the course was a big hit with the entire group. We all look forward to playing it again without a sustained 3-4 club wind blowing for most of the round.

Other highlights included multiple trips to Los Gallos for our favorite mexican joint, lots of low limit digital craps together, and a stop at Reno Axe on the Saturday night of our trip. It was the first time axe throwing for many in the group and it was a blast!
