2019 Year in Review
2019 was a special year for the Kauflin Invitational. It was my first opportunity to introduce many of my best friends to what I consider my new home away from home… Reno. The Reno-Tahoe area is a great golf destination, and when you combine that with the relationship I have with The Row hotel complex? It has all the makings of a great home base for the group.
The first major takeaway was the weather. Compared to years past in Mesquite and Las Vegas, the weather could not have been more perfect. Northern Nevada, and especially into the mountains of northern California, is a totally different climate that what the group is used to. I had pants on for all four rounds of golf, and at no point was I uncomfortable. We had wind on one day at Somersett CC, but the other two days were pretty much as calm as possible. A big bonus. I think the golf courses overall were also a big hit with the group, and there are so many other courses to choose from for future years.
But the star of the show had to be The Row and staying at the Silver Legacy. Mark Conn and his staff were just tremendous hosts throughout our stay. The hospitality suite was stocked when we arrived and Mark also treated us to some time in the new TopGolf Swing Suite. The selection of restaurants, the overall feel in the casinos, it all worked very, very well for the group. Not to mention the newest discovery: 10 minute chair massages while you sit at the Pai Gow table. Absolutely 100% outstanding!
